BYMS-65 served the Navies of Great Britain and Greece.

BYMS-1 Class Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 16 April 1942 as BYMS-65 by Wheeler Shipbuilding Corp., Whitestone, NY
  • Launched 21 December 1942
  • Completed 22 January 1943, transferred to Great Britain and reclassified J-865
  • Reclassified BYMS-2065
  • Returned to U.S. custody 12 August 1944, transferred to Greece and named Karteria (M 203) the same day
  • Transferred outright to Greece 22 July 1952
  • Struck from the Naval Register 8 August 1952
  • Struck from the Greek registry in 1973
  • Fate unknown.

  • Displacement 270 t.
  • Length 136'
  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 880bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
