BYMS-75 served the Navies of Great Britain and Egypt.

BYMS-1 Class Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 24 July 1942 as BYMS-75 by Wheeler Shipbuilding Corp., Whitestone, NY
  • Launched 1 May 1943
  • Completed and transferred to Great Britain 18 June 1943 and named HMS J-875
  • Renamed HMS BYMS-2075
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in May 1947; sold to Egypt and named Tor
  • Returned to U.S. custody 6 June 1947 (on paper only)
  • Struck from the Naval Register 10 June 1947
  • Renamed Kaisaria in 1949
  • Discarded in 1970.

  • Displacement 270 t.
  • Length 136'
  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge projectors
  • Propulsion: Two 880bhp General Motors diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
