YMS-1 Class Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 3 June 1942 as YMS-256 by the Weaver Shipyard, Orange, TX
  • Launched 28 August 1943
  • Completed 20 December 1943, transferred to Great Britain and reclassified HMS J-1056
  • Reclassified HMS BYMS-2256
  • Struck from the Naval Register 28 August 1947
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in January 1948
  • Fate unknown.

  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts, and two depth charge projectors
