YMS-1 Class Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper:

  • Laid down 30 October 1942 as YMS-284 by the San Diego Marine Construction Co., San Diego, CA
  • Launched 17 February 1943
  • Completed 29 August 1943
  • Transferred to Great Britain 2 November 1943 and reclassified HM J-1084
  • Reclassified HM BYMS-2284
  • Returned to U.S. custody 31 July 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register 17 July 1947
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in October 1947
  • Fate unknown.

  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts, and two depth charge projectors
