YMS-1 Class Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper: Laid down, 10 June 1943 by Associated Shipbuilders, Lake Union, Seattle, WA; Launched, 11 August 1943; Commissioned USS YMS-294, 11 September 1943; Completed and delivered 9 November 1943; Decommissioned, 12 November 1945 and placed in service at New Orleans, LA; Named Redpoll and reclassified as a Motor Minesweeper, AMS-57, 1 September 1947; Recommissioned, 20 November 1950; Reclassified a Coastal Minesweeper (Old), MSC(O)-57, 7 February 1955; Decommissioned 8 November 1957 and placed in service as a Naval Reserve training ship at Chattanooga, TN; Placed out of service and struck from the Navy Register 1 July 1959; Converted to an Oceanographic Research Vessel in 1960, renamed Sir Horace Lamb and assigned to Columbia University's Geophysical Field Station, Saint David's, Bermuda; Scrapped 1 December 1976.
