Pelican served the Navies of the United States and Japan.

YMS-1 Class Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper: Laid down, 27 November 1943 by Robert Jacob Inc., City Island, NY; Launched, 13 November 1944; Completed, 20 February 1945; Commissioned USS YMS-441, 21 February 1945; Reclassified as a Motor Minesweeper and named Pelican (AMS 32), 18 February 1947; Reclassified as a Coastal Minesweeper (Old), MSC(O)-32, 7 February 1955; Decommissioned, 16 April 1955 and loaned to Japan as Ogishima (MSC 659); Returned to U.S. custody in April 1968; Struck from the Naval Register 1 May 1968 and scrapped.

Specifications: Displacement 270 t.; Length 136'; Beam 24' 6"; Draft 8'; Speed 15 kts; Complement 32; Armament one single 3"/50 gun mount, two 20mm, 2 dcp; Propulsion two 880shp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, two shafts.
