YMS-457 served the Navies of the United States and the Soviet Union

PCS-1376 Class Patrol Craft Sweeper/YMS-1 Class Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper:

  • Planned as Patrol Craft Sweeper, PCS-1410 but reclassified as an Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper, YMS-457, 26 September 1943
  • Laid down 17 November 1943 by the Greenport Basin and Construction Co., Greenport, NY
  • Launched 8 January 1944
  • Completed 13 September 1944
  • Transferred to the Soviet Union 31 March 1945 and reclassified T-182
  • Assigned to the Northern Pacific Fleet 28 June 1945
  • Placed out of service 18 December 1954 and used as a diving boat
  • Reclassified VM-77, 12 January 1955
  • Laid up 12 March 1955
  • Scrapped 11 July 1956.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 270 t.
  • Length 136'
  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8'
  • Speed 15 kts.
  • Complement 32
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge projectors
  • Propulsion: Two 880bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
