PC-554 served the Navies of the United States and Brazil.

PC-461 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 20 December 1941 by the Sullivan Dry Dock and Repair Co., Brooklyn, NY
  • Launched 1 May 1942
  • Commissioned USS PC-554, 15 September 1942
  • Decommissioned 29 October 1943, transferred to Brazil and named Goiana (CS 6)
  • Reclassified G-6 after World War II
  • Decommissioned 23 November 1949
  • Struck from the Navy Register 19 April 1950
  • Scrapped in 1952.

  • Displacement 295 t.(lt) , 450 t.(fl)
  • Length 170'
  • Beam 23'
  • Draft 10' 10"
  • Speed 20.2 kts.
  • Complement 65
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, one 40mm gun mount; two 20mm guns, two Mousetrap depth charge projectors, four K-gun depth charge projectors and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 2,880bhp General Motors 16-258S diesel engines (Serial No. 6345 and 6346), Farrel-Birmingham single reduction gear, two shafts.
