PC-461 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 13 February 1942 at Jeffersonville Boat and Machine Co., Jeffersonville, IN
  • Launched 4 June 1942
  • Commissioned USS PC-562, 5 August 1942
  • Damaged by mine off Port Empedocle, Sicily 18 July 1943 at 37º10'N, 12º35'E
  • Decommissioned 30 June 1944, transferred to France at Oran, Algeria and named L'Attentif (W 63)
  • Struck from the Naval Register 12 February 1953
  • Sunk as a target in 1953.

  • Propulsion: Two 2,880bhp General Motors 16-258S diesel engines (Serial No. 6361 and 6362), Farrel-Birmingham reduction gear, two shafts.
