PC-1144 served the Navies of the United States, France and South Vietnam.

PC-461 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 7 May 1943 at Defoe Shipbuilding Co., Bay City, MI
  • Launched 4 October 1943
  • Commissioned USS PC-1144, 20 May 1944
  • Decommissioned in January 1947 and laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, Columbia River Group
  • Transferred to France in 1951 and named Mousquet (P 633)
  • Transferred to South Vietnam in 1956 and renamed Chi Lang (HQ 01)
  • Struck from the Naval Register in 1961 and scrapped.

  • Displacement 280 t.(lt), 450 t.(fl)
  • Length 173' 8"
  • Beam 23'
  • Draft 10' 10"
  • Speed 20.2 kts.
  • Complement 65
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, one 40mm gun mount, three 20mm guns, two rocket launchers, four depth charge projectors, and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 1,440bhp General Motors 16-278A diesel engines, Farrel-Birmingham single reduction gear, two shafts.
