PC-461 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 26 June 1943 by the Consolidated Shipbuilding Co., Morris Heights, NY
  • Launched 18 August 1943
  • Commissioned USS PC-1207, 12 November 1943
  • Decommissioned 10 January 1946 at Norfolk, VA
  • Struck from the Naval Register 13 November 1946
  • Transferred 23 June 1948 to the War Shipping Administration, sold to the Wilson Lines, Inc. of Boston, MA and named Sea Belle
  • She was used on the Boston to Provincetown, Cape Cod run, New York to Rockaway/Rye Beach amusement parks and on the Chesapeake Bay runs to Baltimore and Norfolk. In 1955 the Wilson Company was sold to an
    investment company who sold all the assets of the company. The Sea Belle was laid up in Wilmington for a few years and then was sold for use as a floating restaurant in the Norfolk area. After being sold a few times and a fire
    in 1985 she ended up in the back waters of Little Creek, VA where her partially dismantled hulk remains today.

  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, one 40mm gun mount, five 20mm guns, two rocket launchers, and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 1,440bhp Hooven-Owen-Rentschler R-99DA diesel engines (Serial No. 7063 and 7064), Westinghouse single reduction gear, two shafts.
