PC-461 Class Submarine Chaser: Laid down, 26 May 1943 by the Luders Marine Construction Co., Stamford, CT; Launched, 26 September 1943; Commissioned USS PC-1217, 27 April 1944. PC-1217 was scheduled to be used as a bombing target in the First Naval District (Boston). Hulk never used. Transferred to the Maritime Commission for sale 24 March 1948; Sold for scrap to the Whitte Brothers Marine Scrap Yard of Rossville, Staten Island, NY. As of February 2008, PC-1217 is still at the scrap yard now named Donjon Marine Yard.

Specifications: Displacement 280 t.(lt) 450 t.(fl); Length 173' 8"; Beam 23'; Draft 10' 10"; Speed 19 kts.; Complement 65; Armament one 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, one 40mm gun mount, two 20mm guns, four depth charge projectors, two depth charge tracks; Propulsion two 2,560bhp Hooven-Owen-Rentschler
RB-99DA diesel engines (Serial No. 7317 and 7318), Westinghouse single reduction gear, two shafts.
