PC-461 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 28 December 1943 by Luders Marine Construction Co., Stamford, CT
  • Launched 23 September 1944
  • Commissioned USS PC-1258, 24 January 1945
  • Assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific theater during World War II and participated in the Palau Islands operation
  • Struck from the Naval Register 12 April 1946
  • Transferred to the War Shipping Administration 21 June 1948, sold to the Wilson Excursion Line of Wilmington, DE
  • Named Boston Belle in 1949
  • Sold to the City of Rosario, Argentina in 1961 for use as an excursion boat but was never used as such
  • Sold in 1970 to Ferrylineas S.A. of Buenos Aires, Argentina and renamed Cuidad de Rosario
  • Taken out of service in 1982 and laid up in the Riachuelo River, near Buenos Aires
  • Destroyed in 2007.

  • Displacement 450 t.
  • Length 173' 8"
  • Beam 23'
  • Draft 10' 10"
  • Speed 20.2 kts.
  • Complement 65
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose gun mount, one 40mm gun mount, five 20mm guns, two rocket launchers, and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 1,440bhp Hooven-Owen-Rentschler R-99DA diesel engines (Serial No. 7719 and 7720), Westinghouse single reduction gear, two shafts
    1949 - Engines replaced during conversion to Boston Belle with two 1,440bhp General Motors 12-278A diesel engines.
