Grosse Pointe served the Navies of the United States and South Korea.

PC-533 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 28 November 1943 at Consolidated Shipbuilding Corp., Morris Heights, NY
  • Launched 30 January 1944
  • Commissioned USS PC-1546, 5 June 1944 at New York Navy Yard, Brooklyn, NY
  • Decommissioned 12 August 1955 at Astoria, Oregon and laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, Columbia River Group
  • Named Grosse Pointe 15 February 1956
  • Transferred 21 November 1960, on loan under the Military Assistance Program to South Korea and renamed Kun Chang Sun (PC-708)
  • Fate unknown.

    Launching at the Consolidated Shipbuilding Corp. Yard, New York. She was christened by Mrs. Joseph G. Feeney of Scranton Pennsylvania, wife of Lieutenant Junior Grade Joseph G. Feeney, USNR, who was then convalescing from injuries suffered when his merchant ship (Cities Service Oil Co, New York tanker SS Cities Service Missouri) was torpedoed and sunk in March 1943. He was awarded the Navy Cross for bravery in that action
