  • Laid down 17 January 1944 as PC-1562 by the Leathem D. Smith Shipbuilding Co., Sturgeon Bay, WI
  • Launched 4 March 1944
  • Directly commissioned into the Free French Navy as Javelot (W 23), 5 June 1944
  • Struck from the Navy list 31 May 1951 and scrapped.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 295 t.
  • Length 173' 8"
  • Beam 23'
  • Draft 10' 10"
  • Speed 20.2 kts.
  • Complement 65
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose mount, one 40mm gun, five 20mm guns, two depth charge projectors, two depth charge tracks, two Hedgehog rocket launchers
  • Propulsion: Two 2,880bhp General Motors 16-278A diesel engines (Serial No. 14276 & 14277), Farrel-Birmingham single reduction gear, two shafts.
