PC-1604 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down as PC-1612 by At. et Ch. de Provence, Port de Bouc, France for the French Navy using "offshore" funds
  • Launched 26 June 1954
  • Delivered 10 September 1955
  • Commissioned L'Agile (P 643), 20 September 1955
  • Returned to U.S. Navy in April 1979 and scrapped at Sittingbourne, United Kingdom.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 402 t.
  • Length 175'
  • Beam 23'
  • Draft 10' 10"
  • Speed 18.7 kts.
  • Complement 63
  • Armament: One 40mm mount, two 20mm mounts, four depth charge projectors and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Four 810hp direct-reversible SEMT-Pielstick 14-cylinder diesel engines, two shafts.
