PC-1610 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down as PC-1614 at Normandie, Le Havre, France for the Portuguese Navy using "offshore" funds
  • Delivered 9 February 1955 and commissioned Porto Santo (P 5)
  • Reclassified P-588
  • Fate unknown.

  • Displacement 325 t.
  • Length 170'
  • Beam 23'
  • Draft 6½'
  • Speed 18.7 kts.
  • Complement 62
  • Armament: Two 40mm mounts, two 20mm mounts, one Hedgehog, four depth charge projectors (K-guns) and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Four 3,240bhp Pielstick-SMET diesel engines, two shafts.
