PC-1620 was built for Italy.

PC-1610 Class Submarine Chaser/Albatross Class Corvette:

  • Laid down in 1954 as PC-1620 by Navalmeccanica of Castellammare di Stabia, Castellamare, Italy using "offshore" funds
  • Delivered in 1955 and commissioned Alcione (F 544)
  • Decommissioned in 1992
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 800 t.
  • Length 76.30m
  • Beam 9.60m
  • Draft 2.79m
  • Speed 20 kts.
  • Complement 102
  • Armament: Two 76mm mounts, two 40mm mounts, two Hedgehogs and two depth charge projectors
  • Propulsion: Two 2,000hp Potenza diesel engines, two shafts.
