PC-1635 Class Submarine Chaser/Brava Class Patrol Vessel:

  • Laid down as PC-1635 at Estaleiros Navais de Viana do Castelo, Portugal under Off Shore Procurement under the terms of the Military Defense Assistance Pact
  • Floated out of dry-dock (launched) 2 May 1956
  • Commissioned Brava (P 590), 27 December 1956
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 366 t.
  • Length 170'
  • Beam 23'
  • Draft 9'
  • Speed 17.5 kts.
  • Complement 62
  • Armament: Two twin 40mm mounts, two twin 20mm monts, one Hedgehog, four K-guns and two depth charge rails
  • Propulsion: Four 3,500bhp 4-stroke 14-V SEMT-Pielstick diesel engines, two shafts.
