PC-1638 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down by Astilleros Maestranzas de la Armada (ASMAR), Talcahuano, Chile
  • Launched 7 January 1970
  • Completed 27 NOvember 1971 and commissioned Papudo (P 37)
  • Struck from the Chilean Navy Register in 1993
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 280 t.
  • Length 173' 9"
  • Beam 23'
  • Draft 10' 3"
  • Speed 19 kts.
  • Complement 69
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose mount, one Mk 15 trainable ASW Hedgehog projector, one 40mm gun mount and four 20mm guns
  • Propulsion: Two 1,400bhp General Motors 16-567 diesel engines, two shafts.
