PT-55 was built for Great Britian.

77' Elco Motor Torpedo Boat:

  • Laid down 10 July 1941 as PT-55 by the Electric Boat Co., Elco Works, Bayonne, NJ
  • Launched 22 September 1941
  • Transferred to Great Britain as BPT-7, 23 February 1942
  • Completed 28 February 1942
  • Reclassified as HM MTB-313
  • Assigned to the 10th/15th MTB Flotilla under the command of T/Lt. C.F. McKim, RCNVR
  • Released for disposal 15 March 1946 at Alexandria, Egypt (did not have engines or propellers)
  • Returned to U.S. Navy at Palermo, Sicily, Italy
  • Fate unknown.

  • Beam 19' 11"
  • Draft 4' 6"
  • Speed 41 kts.
  • Complement 15
  • Armament: Two twin .50 cal. Browning M2 machine guns in Dewandre turrets and four 18" torpedoes
  • Propulsion: Three 1,200shp Packard V12 M2500 gasoline engines, three shafts.

    PT-49 69k HM MTB 307 (ex-PT-49) and HM MTB 313 (ex-PT-55) moored alongside several Vospers, apparently at Alexandria, Egypt. At some point after being merged with the 10th MTB Flotilla, the surviving 77 ft. MTBs of the 15th MTB Flotilla were repainted in the Light Standard Scheme F
