PT-198 served the Navies of the United States, Great Britain and the Philippines


78' Higgins Motor Torpedo Boat:

  • Laid down 25 June 1942 by Higgins Industries, New Orleans, LA
  • Launched 16 September 1942
  • Completed 7 January 1943, placed in service and assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron FOURTEEN
  • Prior to the squadrom commissioning, "High on Windy Hill" was transferred to the Soviet Union 15 February 1943 and reclassified RPT-12
  • Transferred to Great Britain in April 1943 due to the cancellation of convoys to Russia in the spring of 1943 and was reclassified as a Controlled Target Craft, CT-17
  • Returned to U.S. custody in August 1946
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission 3 September 1946 and sold to the Philippines
  • Fate unknown.
