PT-516 served the Navies of the United States and the Soviet Union.

80' Elco Motor Torpedo Boat:

  • Laid down 30 October 1943 by the Electric Boat Co., Elco Works, Bayonne, NJ
  • Launched 21 January 1944
  • Completed 24 February 1944, placed in service and assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron THIRTY FIVE (PTRon 35) under the command of LCDR Richard Davis, Jr., USN
  • PTRon 35 had action in the English Channel area from June to November 1944, when orders were received to prepared the boats for delivery to the Soviet Union
  • The "Flying Jini" was transferred to the Soviet Union 7 April 1945 and renamed TK-436
  • Scuttled in 1956 in the Barents Sea.

  • Speed 41 kts.

  • Armament: One 40mm mount, four 21" Torpedoes and two twin .50 cal. machine guns
