80' Elco Motor Torpedo Boat:

  • Laid down 2 June 1944 by the Electric Boat Co., Elco Works, Bayonne, NJ
  • Launched 31 October 1944
  • Completed 29 December 1944
  • Placed in service 30 December 1944 and assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron THIRTY EIGHT (PTRon 38) under the command of LCDR Charles A. Mills, Jr., USNR
  • PTRon 38, assigned to the Southwest Pacific, arrived at Samar, Philippines, in May, June, and July, 1945. The squadron based there and at Basilan Island, Philippines, but had no action except for strafing of shore installations in
    Borneo early in August 1945
  • Placed out of service 24 October 1945
  • Transferred to the State Department, Foreign Liquidation Commission in May 1946 and sold
  • Fate unknown.

  • Armament: One 40mm, four 21" torpedoes and two twin .50 cal. machine guns
