PT-612 served the Navies of the United States and Norway

80' Elco Motor Torpedo Boat:

  • Laid down 2 March 1945 by the Electric Boat Co., Elco Works, Bayonne, NJ
  • Launched 6 July 1945
  • Completed 31 July 1945, placed in service and assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron FORTY ONE under the command of LCDR Bruce Van Buskirk, USNR
  • Placed out of service 30 January 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register 25 February 1946
  • Reclassified as Bureau of Ships Equipment 22 December 1948
  • Designated a Radio Control Target RCT-12 in 1951
  • Transferred to Norway later that year and named HNoMS Hvass (Sharp)
  • Fate unknown.

  • Armament: One 40mm mount, four 21" torpedoes, one 37mm deck gun, two rocket launchers and two twin .50 cal. Browning machine guns
