78' Higgins Motor Torpedo Boat:

  • Laid down 1 July 1944 by Higgins Industries, New Orleans, LA
  • Launched 16 August 1944
  • Completed 8 February 1945
  • Placed in service 9 February 1945 and assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron FORTY THREE (PTRon 43) under the command of Lt. Richard C. Morse, Jr., USNR
  • PTRon 43, assigned to Pacific Fleet, was decommissioned 23 March 1945 so that its boats might be transferred to the Soviet Union
  • Deck loaded on LST-1109 at New Orleans, LA for transit to Puget Sound Navy Yard
  • Arrived at Puget Sound 5 May 1945
  • Transferred to the Soviet Union 8 June 1945 at Seattle, WA and named TK-856
  • Fate unknown.
