PCS-1445 served the Navies of the United States and South Korea

PCS-1376 Class Patrol Craft Sweeper:

  • Laid down 30 January 1943 as PC-1445 by San Diego Marine Construction Co., San Diego, CA
  • Reclassified USS PCS-1445 in April 1943
  • Launched 19 June 1943
  • Commissioned USS PCS-1445, 9 March 1944
  • Selected for disposal in November 1948
  • Loaned to the Republic of Korea in May 1952 and named Geumseong (PCS 202)
  • Served in the Korean Navy into the 1970s
  • Fate unknown.

  • Displacement 245 t.(lt) 338 t.(fl)
  • Length 136'
  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8' 7"
  • Speed 14.1 kts.
  • Complement 57
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose mount, one 40mm gun mount, four 20mm gun mounts, four depth charge projector K-Guns, one depth charge projector (hedgehog) and two depth charge tracks
    1945 - 3"/50 mount replaced by a Hedgehog projector, two 40mm mounts and K-Guns removed
  • Propulsion: Two 800bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
