PCS-1376 Class Patrol Craft Sweeper:

  • Laid down 30 January 1943 by San Diego Marine Construction Co., San Diego, CA
  • Launched, 19 June 1943
  • Commissioned USS PCS-1445, 9 March 1944
  • Loaned to the Republic of Korea in May 1952 and named Geumseong (PCS 202)
  • Served in the Korean Navy into the 1970s
  • Fate unknown.

  • Length 136'
  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8' 7"
  • Speed 14.1 kts.
  • Complement 57
  • Armament: One 40mm gun mount, two 20mm gun mounts, four depth charge projectors, one depth charge projector (hedgehog) and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 800bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.

    PCS-1445 81k Underway off the U.S. west coast, c. 1944-45. She has been fitted with a Hedgehog mounting forward, in place of her 3"/50 gun.
