PCS-1376 Class Patrol Craft Sweeper:

  • Laid down 17 March 1943 by the Mojean and Ericson Shipbuilding Corp., Tacoma, WA
  • Launched 4 September 1943
  • Commissioned USS PC-1445, 8 February 1944 at Tacoma
  • Departed U.S. in April 1944 for the Pacific war area
  • Served with the 7th Fleet June 1944 - April 1945
  • Harbor entrance control vessel for the Yantze River, Shanghai, China October 1945 - May 1946
  • Returned to San Francisco, CA in July 1946
  • Decommissioned 2 April 1947
  • Sold in 1948 to the Brown and Root Co. of Houston, TX, named Margarett Root and serve as an off-shore exploration vessel until 1969
  • Donated to Texas A & M University in 1969
  • Sold for scrap 6 March 1970 to Service Marine, Inc of Galveston, TX.

  • Draft 8' 7"
  • Speed 14.1 kts.
  • Complement 57
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose mount, one 40mm gun mount, two 20mm gun mounts, four depth charge projectors (K-guns), one depth charge projector (hedgehog) and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 800bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
