PCS-1376 Class Patrol Craft Sweeper:

  • Laid down 25 March 1943 as PC-1461 by the Bellingham Marine Railway and Boatbuilding Co., Bellingham, WA
  • Reclassified PCS-1461 in April 1943
  • Launched 15 September 1943
  • Commissioned USS PCS-1461, 1 February 1944
  • Damaged in collision 23 February 1945 off Iwo Jima and again by friendly fire the same day
  • Reclassified as a Control Submarine Chaser, PCSC-1461, 20 August 1945
  • Grounded 9 October 1945 during Typhoon Louise off Okinawa
  • Struck from the Naval Register 19 December 1945 and destroyed.

  • Length 136'
  • Beam 24' 6"
  • Draft 8' 7"
  • Speed 14.1 kts.
  • Complement 57
  • Armament: One 3"/50 dual purpose mount, one 40mm gun mount, two 20mm gun mounts, two depth charge projectors, and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 800bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single reduction gear, two shafts.
