Everett served the Navies of the United States, the Soviet Union and Japan.

Tacoma Class Patrol Frigate:

  • (MC Type T. S2-S2-AQ1) Orignially designated a Patrol Gunboat, PG-116
  • Reclassified as a Patrol Frigate, PF-8, 15 April 1943
  • Laid down under Maritime Commission Contract, (MC hull 1426) by Kaiser Cargo Inc., Richmond, CA
  • Launched, 29 September 1943
  • Commissioned USS Everett (PF-8), 22 January 1944
  • Decommissioned at Cold Harbor, Alaska, 16 August 1945
  • Loaned to the Soviet Union 17 August 1945, under the Lend-Lease Program and renamed EK-17
  • Returned to U.S. custody at Yokosuka, Japan 15 November 1949
  • Laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, Yokosuka
  • Recommissioned at Yokosuka 26 July 1950
  • Decommissioned, 10 May 1953 at Yokosuka
  • Transferred on loan to Japan as Kiri (PF 291)
  • Struck from the Naval Register 1 December 1961
  • Reclassified as an Auxiliary Stock Craft, YAC-20, 31 March 1970
  • Decommissioned 1 October 1975
  • Returned to U.S. custody 22 January 1976 and scrapped.

  • Propulsion: Two-3 drum expansion boilers, two 5,500ihp J. Hendy Iron Works vertical triple expansion engines, two shafts.
