Tacoma Class Patrol Frigate: (MC Type T. S2-S2-AQ1) Originally designated Patrol Gunboat, PG-126; Redesignated a Patrol Frigate, PF-18, 15 April 1943; Laid down 23 June 1943 under a Maritime Commission Contract at American Shipbuilding Co., Lorian Ohio; Launched, 15 January 1944; Commissioned USS Alexandria (PF-18), 11 March 1945; Decommissioned 10 April 1946 at Norfolk, VA; Struck from the Navy Register 21 May 1946; Sold for scrap 18 April 1947 to the Sun Shipbuilding & Drydock Co. of Chester, Pa.

Specifications: Displacement 1,430 t.; Length, 303' 11" (oa); Bean 37' 6"; Draft 13' 8"; Speed 20.3 kts.; Complement 190; Armament two 3"/50 dual purpose gun mounts (the after 3-inch gun was removed and a weather balloon hanger was added), two twin 40mm gun mounts , nine 20mm guns, one Hedgehog depth charge projector, eight Y-gun depth charge projectors, two depth charge racks; Propulsion two 3-drum express boilers, two 5,500ihp Beloit Iron Works vertical triple expansion steam engines, two shafts.
