Originally authorized as Patrol Gunboat PG-136Reclassified as a Patrol Frigate, PF-28, 15 April 1943Laid down 14 July 1943 under a Maritime Commission contract by the Walter Butler Shipbuilding Co., Superior, WisconsinLaunched 30 August 1943Commissioned USS Emporia (PF-28), 12 June 1944Decommissioned 14 March 1946 at New Orleans, LA and turned over to the Coast Guard and commissioned USCGC Emporia (PF 28) the same dayDecommissioned 28 August 1946 and returned to U.S. Navy custodySold to France 26 March 1947 as the Weather Ship Le VerrierScrapped in 1958.
