Tacoma Class Patrol Frigate: (MC Type T. S2-S2-AQ1) Originally authorized as Patrol Gunboat, PG-148; Redesignated a Patrol Frigate, PF-40, 15 April 1943; Laid down 12 June 1943 under a Maritime Commission contract, at Consolidated Steel Corp, Ltd., Wilmington, CA.; Launched 6 July 1943; Commissioned USS Eugene (PF-40), 15 January 1944; Decommissioned 12 June 1946 at Charleston, SC; Struck from the Navy Register 19 July 1946; Transferred to Cuba in 1947 as Jose Marti (F 301); Scrapped in 1976.

(fl); Length 303' 11"; Beam 37' 6"; Draft 13' 8"; Speed 20.3 kts; Complement 214; Armament two 3"/50 dual purpose gun mounts, two twin 40mm gun mounts, nine 20mm gun mounts, two dct, eight dcp, one dcp (hh); Propulsion two 3-drum express boilers, two 5,500ihp J.
