Tacoma Class Patrol Frigate/British Colony Class Frigate:

  • (MC Type T. S2-S2-AQ1) Originally authorized as Patrol Gunboat, PG-183
  • Reclassified as a Patrol Frigate, PF-75, 15 April 1943
  • Laid down under a Maritime Commission contract at Welsh-Kaiser Co., Inc., Providence, RI
  • Assigned to the Royal Navy under the Lend-Lease Program, named Hotham and launched 17 August 1943
  • Transferred to the Royal Navy and commissioned HMS Bahamas (K 503), 6 December 1943
  • Returned to U.S. custody 11 June 1946 and transferred to the Maritime Commission for disposal
  • Sold for scrap 16 October 1947 to John J. Duane Co. of Quincy, MA
    Naval Vessel Register of 1 January 1949 lists sale date as December 1947.

The capital is Nassau on the island of New Providence. The Royal Bahamas Defence Force describes The Bahamas' territory as encompassing 470,000 km2 (180,000 sq mi) of ocean space
