Albay


Albay served the Navies of Spain and the United States.

Gunboat:

  • Built in 1886 for the Spanish Navy by Manila Ship, Cavite, Philippines
  • Captured in 1898
  • Acquired by the Navy in 1899
  • Commissioned 21 May 1899
  • Decommissioned 13 February 1904 at Cavite
  • Struck from the Navy list 11 February 1905
  • Sold 8 June 1906 to Messrs. Grant and Co., of Manila
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 173 t.
  • Length 100'
  • Beam 17' 6"
  • Draft 6' 9"
  • Speed 8 kts.
  • Complement 27
  • Armament: One 6-pounder, two 1-pounders and two machine guns, later one 1-pounder
  • Propulsion: Two 150hp vertical compound steam engines, two shafts.
