Viking served the U. S. Navy and the Army

Patrol Yacht:

  • The first Viking was built in 1883 by John Roach and Sons, Chester, PA
  • Acquired by the Navy 22 April 1898
  • Commissioned 11 May 1998 at New York
  • Decommissioned 22 September 1898 at Norfolk, VA
  • Recommissioned 29 September 1899
  • Decommissioned 23 October 1899
  • Transferred 9 December 1899 to the War Department
  • Fate unknown.

  • Draft 8' 6"
  • Speed 11.75 kts.
  • Complement 43
  • Armament: One 3-pounder and six 6mm machine guns.
