Patrol Yacht: Laid down, 23 December 1929 as the motor-yacht Placida by Bath Iron Work, Inc., Bath, Maine; Launched, 17 May 1930; Delivered 1 July 1930; Purchased by the Navy 19 June 1941; Converted for Naval service at Gibbs Gas Engine Co., Jacksonville, FL; Commissioned USS Ruby (PY-21), 23 September 1941; Decommissioned 23 July 1945 at Boston, MA; Struck from the Naval Register, 13 August 1945; Transferred to the Maritime Commission for disposal, 26 December 1945. Fate unknown.

Specifications: Displacement 500 t.; Length 190 '; Beam 26' 6" ; Draft 10' 11"; Speed 13 kts.; Complement 67; Armament two 3"/50 dual purpose gun mounts, and four 1.1" antiaircraft machine guns; Propulsion two 800shp Cooper Bessemer JR-8 diesel engines, two shafts.
