SC-1 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down at the New York Navy Yard, Brooklyn, NY
  • Commissioned 1 February 1918
  • Participated in North Sea minesweeping operations in 1919 to clear the North Sea Mine Barrage. During these operations, she struck a mine on 4 September 1919 and was damaged, but suffered
    no casualties
  • Salvaged and sold 19 December 1919 to Thomas Lee of Ipswich, England
  • Fate unknown.

    SC-37, 38, 181, 208, 182 & 272 103k USS Panther moored in Kirkwall Harbor, Orkney Islands, while supporting the North Sea mine barrage clearance operation in 1919. She has several trawlers and submarine chasers alongside. The latter include (from left to right, in outboard group off Panther's port side: SC-48, SC-328, SC-38 and SC-181
