SC-536 served the U. S. Navy and Coast Guard.
SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser: Laid down 29 April 1941 as PC-536 by the Peterson Boat Works, Sturgeon Bay, WI; Launched, 5 March 1942; Commissioned USS PC-536, 23 April 1942; Reclassified SC-536; Transferred to the Coast Guard 19 February 1946 and commissioned USCGC Air Cormorant (WAVR 415); Sold in 1951 to Murray Suthergreen of Seattle, WA and renamed Moonlight Maid; Sold in 1969 to Petersburg Processors of Petersburg, AK; Now owned by Pat and Kelly Warga of Bainbridge Island, Washington. Fate unknown.
Specifications: Displacement 95 t; Length 110' 10"; Beam 17'; Draft 6' 6" (fl); Speed 21 kts.; Complement 28; Armament one 40mm gun mount, one or two twin mount .50 cal. machine guns, two or three dcp "K Guns", 14 depth charges with six single release chocks, two sets Mk 20 Mousetrap rails with four 7.2 projectiles; Propulsion two 1,540bhp General Motors (Electro-Motive Div.) 16-184A diesel engines, two shafts.
