SC-715 served both the U. S. Navy and Coast Guard.
SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser: Laid down 14 May 1942 by the Fisher Boat Works, Detroit, MI; Launched 23 October 1942; Commissioned USS SC-715, 4 December 1942; Decommissioned at Seattle, WA; Transferred to the Coast Guard 9 January 1946; Sold to the British Columbia Packers Fishing Company and converted to a fishing packer in the late 1940's/early 1950's; Registered 14 May 1951 as Cape Pine at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; Sold to the Maritime Heritage Society of Vancouver, British Columbia; Currently owned by Ronan Oger and moored in Vancouver, in good operating condition with regular use as a private vessel.
Specifications: Displacement 95 t; Length 110' 10"; Beam 17'; Draft 6' 6" (fl); Speed 21 kts.; Complement 28; Armament one 40mm
gun mount, one or two twin mount .50 cal. machine guns, two or three dcp "K Guns", 14 depth charges with six single release chocks, two sets Mk 20 Mousetrap rails with four 7.2 projectiles; Propulsion two 1,540hp General Motors (Electro-Motive Div.) 16-184A diesel engines, two shafts (Cape Pine has one 320bhp diesel engine and one shaft; Speed 8 kts.).
