SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 14 May 1942 by the Fisher Boat Works, Detroit, MI
  • Launched 23 October 1942
  • Delivered 4 December 1942 and commissioned USS PC-715
  • Reclassified SC-715 in April 1943
  • Decommissioned at Seattle, WA
  • Transferred to the Coast Guard 9 January 1946 and commissioned USCGC Air Killdeer (WAVR 433)
  • Struck from the Naval Register 21 January 1946
  • Sold 19 January 1948 to the British Columbia Packers Fishing Company and converted to a fishing packer
  • Registered 14 May 1951 as Cape Pine at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
  • Sold to the Maritime Heritage Society of Vancouver, British Columbia
  • Acquired by Ronan Oger of Vancouver
  • Acquired in 2017 by James Howard of Vancouver.

  • Armament: One 40mm gun mount, one/two twin .50 cal. machine guns, two/three depth charge projector "K Guns", 14 depth charges with six single release chocks and two sets Mk 20 Mousetrap rails

  • Propulsion: Two 1,540hp General Motors (Electro-Motive Div.) 16-184A diesel engines, two shafts
    (Cape Pine has one 320bhp diesel engine and one shaft, Speed 8 kts.).
