SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 16 November 1942 as PC-720 by the Fisher Boat Works, Detroit, MI
  • Launched 10 April 1943 and reclassified SC-720
  • Commissioned USS SC-720, 3 August 1943
  • Transferred to the Soviet Union 7 October 1943 and reclassified BO-211
  • Assigned to Polyarny, Murmansk, Soviet Union 29 February 1944
  • Assigned to the Black Sea Fleet 15 July 1944
  • Returned to the United States 4 August 1954
  • Fate unknown.

  • Displacement 148 t.
  • Length 110' 10"
  • Beam 17'
  • Draft 6' 6"
  • Speed 21 kts.
  • Complement 28
  • Armament: One 40mm gun mount, two .50 cal. machine guns, two depth charge projector "Y Gun," and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 1,540bhp General Motors (Electro-Motive Div.) 16-184A diesel engines, two shafts.
