SC-1003 served both the U. S. Navy and Coast Guard

SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 8 April 1942 as PC-1003 by Fellows and Stewart, Inc., Wilmington, CA
  • Launched 25 July 1942
  • Commissioned USS PC-1003, 24 December 1942 under the command of ENS Lawrence N. Barrett, USNR
  • Reclassified SC-1003 in April 1943
  • Decommissioned 20 November 1945
  • Transferred to the Coast Guard 21 November 1945 and commissiioned USCGC Air Partridge (WAVR 444)
  • Sold 5 March 1947
  • Acquired in 1948 by Ivan C. Moulton of Portland, OR for use as a fishing boat and named Mickey Lee
  • Acquired in 1951 by Chester Sturgeon of Oroville, CA
  • Renamed Vida R. 4 November 1955
  • Out of documentation in 1957 and licensed as a yacht
  • Fate unknown.

  • Beam 17'
  • Draft 6' 6"
  • Speed 21 kts.
  • Complement 28
  • Armament: One 40mm gun mount, two .50 cal. machine guns, two depth charge projector "Y Guns," and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 1,540bhp General Motors (Electro-Motive Div.) 16-184A diesel engines, two shafts.
