SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 7 September 1942 as PC-1012 by Fellows and Stewart, Wilmington, CA
  • Launched 28 December 1942
  • Reclassified SC-1012, 8 April 1943
  • Commissioned 18 August 1943
  • Reclassified as a Control Submarine Chaser, SCC-1012 in August 1945
  • Grounded at Okinawa during Typhoon Louise in October 1945 and damaged beyond repair
  • Struck from the Naval Register 19 December 1945
  • Destroyed 1 January 1946.

  • Displacement 148 t.
  • Length 110' 10"
  • Beam 17'
  • Draft 6' 6"
  • Speed 21 kts.
  • Complement 28
  • Armament: One 40mm gun mount, two .50 cal. machine guns, two depth charge projector "K Gun," and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 1,540bhp General Motors (Electro-Motive Div.) 16-184A diesel engines, two shafts.
