SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 31 October 1942 as PC-1037 by the Peterson Boat Works, Sturgeon Bay, WI
  • Reclassified SC-1037 in April 1943
  • Launched 29 May 1943
  • Commissioned USS SC-1037, 7 July 1943
  • Transferred to the Coast Guard and commissioned USCGC Air Robin (WAVR 458), 16 January 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register 7 February 1946
  • Sold in June 1947 as a private fishing boat and renamed Robin
  • Still in service in 1978
  • Fate unknown.

  • Draft 6' 6"
  • Speed 21 kts.
  • Complement 28
  • Armament: One 40mm gun mount, two .50 cal. machine guns, two depth charge projector "Y Guns," and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 1,540bhp General Motors (Electro-Motive Div.) 16-184A diesel engines, two shafts.
