SC-1073 served the Navies of the United States and the Soviet Union

SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 31 March 1943 as PC-1073 by the Mathis Yacht Building Co., Camden, NJ (renamed John Trumpy and Sons)
  • Reclassified SC-1073 in April 1943
  • Launched 30 June 1943
  • Commissioned USS SC-1073, 19 July 1943
  • Transferred to the Soviet Union 13 August 1943 and reclassified BO-206
  • Placed in service 13 August 1943
  • Assigned to Polyarny, Murmansk 30 October 1943
  • Sunk 25 June 1956 off Kildinsky, Murmansk in agreement with the United States.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 148 t.
  • Length 110' 10"
  • Beam 17'
  • Draft 6' 6"
  • Speed 21 kts.
  • Complement 28
  • Armament: One 40mm gun mount, two .50 cal. machine guns, two depth charge projector "K Gun," and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 1,540bhp General Motors (Electro-Motive Div.) 16-184A diesel engines, two shafts.
