SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 5 February 1943 as PC-1284 by the Elizabeth City Shipyards, Elizabeth City, NC
  • Launched 26 March 1943
  • Reclassified SC-1284 in April 1943
  • Commissioned USS SC-1284, 18 June 1943
  • Transferred to the Soviet Union 23 July 1943 and reclassified BO-202
  • Placed in service 5 August 1943
  • Assigned to the Northern Fleet at Polyarny, Murmansk 30 October 1943
  • Reassigned to the Black Sea Fleet at Yeysk 10 July 1944
  • Returned to U.S. custody 4 August 1945
  • Fate unknown.

  • Draft 6' 6"
  • Speed 21 kts.
  • Complement 28
  • Armament: One 40mm gun mount, two .50 cal. machine guns, two depth charge projector "K Gun," two sets Mk 20 Mousetrap rails with four 7.2 projectiles and two depth charge tracks
  • Propulsion: Two 1,540bhp General Motors (Electro-Motive Div.) 16-184A diesel engines, two shafts.
