SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:>

  • Laid down 24 October 1942 as PC-1339 by the Walter E. Abrams Shipyards/Thomas Knutson Shipbuilding Corp., Halesite, Long Island, NY
  • Reclassified SC-1339 in April 1943
  • Launched 21 August 1943
  • Commissioned USS SC-1339, 8 November 1943 under the command of LT William G. Maxson, Jr., USNR
  • Decommissioned 1 September 1945 at Thompkinsville, Staten Island, NY and placed in service
  • Placed out of service 14 November 1945
  • Transferred to the Coast Guard 15 November 1945
  • Commissioned USCGC Air Scaup (WAVR 481), 12 February 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register 8 May 1946
  • Sold 4 August 1947
  • Acquired in 1954 by Floyd L. Karsten of Houston, TX for use as a yacht and renamed Tejana III
  • Acquired in 1960 by George M. Kappes of Miami, FL
  • Acquired in 1961 by the Inter Key Waterways Transportation Co. of of Miami
  • Operated in 1970 under the British flag
  • Fate unknown.
