SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 7 July 1943 by the Quincy Adams Yacht Yard, Inc., Quincy, MA
  • Launched 22 March 1944
  • Commissioned USS SC-1477, 9 June 1944
  • Transferred to the Soviet Union 19 July 1944 as BO-230
  • Placed in service in August 1944
  • Torpedoes and sunk 5 December 1944 by the German Submarine U-365 off Teriberki, Murmansk.

  • Propulsion: Two 1,540bhp General Motors (Electro-Motive Div.) 16-184A diesel engines, two shafts.
