SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 17 August 1943 by Quincy Adams Yacht Yard, Inc., Quincy, MA
  • Launched 5 June 1944
  • Commissioned USS SC-1479, 24 August 1944
  • Transferred to the Soviet Union 3 October 1944 as BO-244
  • Placed out of service 26 February 1948 and laid up
  • Sunk 25 June 1956 off Kildinsky Reach in agreement with the United States.

  • Propulsion: Two 1,540bhp General Motors (Electro-Motive Div.) 16-184A diesel engines, two shafts.
