SC-1508 served the Navies of the United States and the Soviet Union

SC-497 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Laid down 12 August 1943 by Harris and Parsons Inc., East Greenwich, RI
  • Launched 8 May 1944
  • Commissioned USS SC-1508, 22 July 1944
  • Transferred to the Soviet Union 6 September 1944, reclassified BO-240 and placed in service
  • Scuttled 25 June 1956 off the Kildinskiy Reach by agreement with the United States.

  • Draft 6' 6"
  • Speed 21 kts.
  • Complement 28
  • Armament: One 40mm gun mount, two .50 cal. machine guns, two depth charge projector "Y Guns," and two depth charge tracks
